A message from the India coordinators:

Please mark your calendars for the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC, 12-15 February), the world's biggest bird-a-thon!

To join, just go birding for at least 15 min and upload the list of all birds seen/heard. This can be repeated as often as you like over the four days of the event, from one or many locations separately.

Last year, nearly 1,000 birders from across India uploaded 7,000 lists, documenting 735 species. Globally, over 100 countries took part. More information about GBBC-India is here: http://www.birdcount.in/events/gbbc2016/.

If you live or work at a campus of any sort (educational, institutional, etc), you might be interested in an associated event called the Campus Bird Count (same dates as above), aimed at documenting birds on campuses across the country.

Last year, 87 campuses took part, documenting 414 species just from within their boundaries! For more: http://www.birdcount.in/events/gbbc2016/campus-bird-count-2016/.

Do join, and help spread the word among your birding friends!
