Participatory GIS Training for the Indian Council for Agricultural Research, Research Complex for Eastern Regions, Patna, Bihar

Participatory tools are invaluable in ensuring stakeholder participation and engagement in community-based projects. Adding a spatial dimension to the gathered information enriches the collected data and provides multiple avenues for analysis and interpretation, and thus, help to ensure that project strategies are designed for maximum impact and coverage of communities. Geographical information systems are often viewed as being highly sophisticated and technical and therefore, out of reach of the lay person.
