Isha is a marine mammal researcher and a PhD student at IISER Tirupati. Isha is interested in using acoustic tools to answer questions on the ecology and behaviour of cetaceans (whales, dolphins, and porpoises). Her current research uses acoustics to estimate population sizes of two small cetacean species, the Indian Ocean humpback dolphin and the Indo-Pacific finless porpoise. She aims to develop a framework using acoustic tools to make density estimation easier, especially in areas with limited resources.Besides field-based research, Isha is interested in capacity building within the bioacoustics research community.
